PFT: Heyward-Bey officially ruled out for Sunday

New Orleans Saints v Carolina PanthersGetty Images

Since he wasn?t being asked to rush the passer last season, Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan ballooned up to 300 pounds.

But now that he has a coach who trusts him, and needs him, a slimmed down Jordan is beginning to justify the first-round pick they spent on him.

?It?s awesome to be able to have the trust from the coaches to be able to do all these positions,? Jordan told Alex Marvez of FoxSports.com.

Jordan might be the one qualified pass-rushing defensive lineman to truly fit into defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo?s system in New Orleans, and he?s getting plenty of chances.

Pigeonholed a year ago as a run-stopper only, and subbed out on third downs, Jordan bulked up.

?Halfway through the season, it was like, ?I?m going to be stuck in this role, I?m going to hit somebody in the mouth [on running plays],? Jordan said. ?I don?t need to worry about pass rush anymore. It was a bitter moment.?

But unlike former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, Spagnuolo isn?t going to blitz as much, wanting to get all his pressure from his front four.

And he?s using the now-285-pound Jordan all along the front four to try to get some push, the way Spagnuolo used to use Justin Tuck and Osi Umenyiora in New York.

?Everyone has comparisons of what I could be or can do,? Jordan said. ?It?s more along the lines of, ?What do our coaches think I can do now???

He leads all NFL defensive linemen in tackle. That?s partly because the Saints can?t get off the field, allowing the fourth-most plays from scrimmage in the league. But he?s also been noticeable in his impact, something that wasn?t being said last year.

Ramona?s Trainer: Fitness University Session 1

We are getting ready to kick off our semi-annual Ramona?s Biggest Winner program and we are excited to bring added value to this awesome life changing program. In order to see clients succeed and to make their experience at our club more than just a trip to the gym, we are including a six session nutrition, anatomy, biology, and education course through our Fitness University program.

I have a key phrase that I love when it comes to creating drive, ?To educate is to motivate.? It is my desire to educate our Biggest Winner contestants so they are internally motivated by the knowledge they acquire, and this class is key in that.

Over the next six weeks I am going to give you a few points from each class session. Week one is Basic Physiology and Digestion.

Key point number one is you need to keep score. Once you establish your goals you then need to track your progress and monitor your food and body. I recommend a food journal to track how many calories and what kinds of foods you?re putting into your engine.

Next you need not rely solely on the scale, but on body composition and circumference measurements. People often say to me, ?My doctor said I need to weigh 120 pounds.? That may or may not be true, but what the real concern is body composition, or in simple terms, how much of you is fat and how much of you is lean tissue. By using your circumference measurements you can find your body fat or composition measurement. Look it up online and search ?body fat by circumference.? You should find the formula right there.

Moving on to the next topic, calories. Calories are a unit of measurement. The word calorie relates to combustion. By definition it is the amount of heat to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water 1 degree Celsius.

Our bodies use calories for energy. Each type of macro nutrient, carbs, fats, and proteins all have a calorie or energy number. Carbs have 4 calories of energy, fats have 9 calories, and proteins have the same as carbs, 4.

You absorb the majority of these macro nutrients in the small intestines. The micro nutrients, or minerals, are absorbed in the large intestines. Think large (macro) small, and small (micro) large.

BMR is your basal metabolic rate. This is the number of calories you burn to sustain life. For me it is around 2,000 calories. So should I eat 2,000 calories, NO. Even if I were trying to lose weight that would be too low and I would lose a tone of lean tissue, hence why we need to know that number and not just weight.

?How much should I eat?? you ask yourself. Well I need to know more about you than your reading this paper right now. Seek out a professional for specifics.

Class, that?s all we have time for today. Remember to do your homework of tracking your eating, checking your composition, and living inspired. I?ll see you next session. Good luck and please check out my website www.ramonastrainer.com for articles, workouts, videos, and how you can get started on your path to you, only better!

(AP) ? A series of coordinated bombings shattered Shiite neighborhoods and struck at Iraqi security forces Sunday, killing at least 26 in attacks that one official described as a rallying call by al-Qaida just days after dozens of militants escaped from prison.

The blasts brought September's death toll from sectarian violence to nearly 200 people ? a grim, above-average monthly total for the period since U.S. troops left last year. The steady pace of attacks has worked to undermine confidence in the government.

"The people are fed up with the killings in Iraqi cities," said Ammar Abbas, 45, a Shiite and government employee who lives in a Baghdad neighborhood near one of the bombings. "The government officials should feel shame for letting their people die at the hands of terrorists."

Police said the wave of explosions stretched from the restive but oil-rich city of Kirkuk in the north to the southern Shiite town of Kut, wounding at least 94 people. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attacks, but bombings are a hallmark of al-Qaida in Iraq, the Sunni insurgency that has been struggling for years to goad Shiite militias back toward civil war.

A key Shiite lawmaker said the bombings likely sought to galvanize al-Qaida in the wake of a prison break last Friday in Saddam Hussein's northern hometown of Tikrit. Scores of inmates escaped ? including as many as 47 convicted al-Qaida militants ? in a massive security lapse that the government acknowledged had help from inside.

"Al-Qaida leaders have no intention of leaving this country or letting Iraqis live in peace," said Hakim al-Zamili, a Shiite member of parliament's security committee. "The jailbreak in Tikrit has boosted al-Qaida's morale in Iraq and thus we should expect more attacks in the near future."

"The situation in Iraq is still unstable," al-Zamili added. "And repetition of such attacks shows that our security forces are still unqualified to deal with the terrorists."

Spokesmen for the government and Baghdad's military command could not immediately be reached for comment.

Sunday's deadliest attack struck the town of Taji, a former al-Qaida stronghold just north of Baghdad. Police said three explosive-rigged cars in a Shiite neighborhood went off within minutes of each other, killing eight and wounding 28 in back-to-back blasts that began around 7:15 a.m.

At almost the same time, in Baghdad, police said a suicide bomber set off his explosives-packed car in the northwest Shiite neighborhood of Shula. One person was killed and seven wounded. Police could not immediately identify the target.

"So many people were hurt. A leg of a person was amputated," lamented Shula resident Naeem Frieh. "What have those innocent people done to deserve this?"

The chain reaction of blasts continued throughout the morning, petering off around noon.

Another suicide bomber drove a minibus into a security checkpoint in Kut, located 160 kilometers (100 miles) southeast of Baghdad. Maj. Gen. Hussein Abdul-Hadi Mahbob said three police officers were killed and five wounded.

A military patrol hit a roadside bomb in Tarmiyah, about an hour north of Baghdad, killing two soldiers and wounding six passers-by, officials said.

And car bombs exploded outside the northern city of Kirkuk, the northeastern towns of Balad Ruz and Khan Bani Saad in Diyala province, and in the town of Madain outside Baghdad. In all, seven people were killed.

Also in Baghdad, a double car bomb struck the mostly Shiite neighborhood of Karradah in the most recent episode of an all-too-familiar insurgent tactic. The first explosion came as a security patrol passed, killing a police officer and a bystander, and wounding eight other people. As emergency responders rushed to the scene, the second car blew up, killing three passers-by and injuring 12, according to officials.

An Associated Press cameraman was knocked to the ground in the second explosion and an AP photographer was slightly injured.

All of the casualties were confirmed by Iraqi security and health officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not allowed to release the information.

Earlier this summer, the Iraqi wing of al-Qaida, also called the Islamic State of Iraq, launched a campaign dubbed "Breaking the Walls," which aimed at retaking strongholds from which it was driven by the American military after sectarian fighting peaked in 2007.

The insurgent group has for years had a hot-and-cold relationship with the global terror network's leadership. Both shared the goal of targeting the U.S. military in Iraq and, to an extent, undermining the Shiite government that replaced Saddam Hussein's regime. But al-Qaida leaders Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahri distanced themselves from the Iraqi militants in 2007 for also killing Iraqi civilians instead of focusing on Western targets.

But even before U.S. troops withdrew last December, the insurgency sought to taunt Shiite militias and undermine Iraq's beleaguered Shiite-led government through near-monthly spectacular attacks that usually came on the same day in different places across the country, leaving scores of Shiites and security forces dead.

So far this year, the deadly trend has continued. January was Iraq's bloodiest month since the withdrawal, with 255 people killed in sectarian-related attacks. At least 193 people were killed in September. Deaths hit a relative low in May, with 48 killed, according to an Associated Press count.

"Such attacks waged on almost monthly basis show that the terrorist groups are still strong and they are not scattered or in chaos as depicted by the government," said Hadi Jalo, a political analyst in Baghdad. "It shows also that the failing security forces have not moved a step forward in their war against terrorism."

Kenya says Somali rebel city falls; fighting near beach

NAIROBI/MOGADISHU (Reuters) - Kenyan and Somali government troops captured Somalia's southern port of Kismayu, the al Shabaab militant group's last major bastion, the Kenyan military said on Friday, but residents said there was fighting just outside the city.

"(A report that) Kismayu fell today to KDF (Kenyan Defense Forces) and TFG (Somali government troops) forces is indeed very true," military spokesman Cyrus Oguna told Kenya's Citizen television.

Along with forces from Uganda, Burundi and Djibouti, Kenyan troops have been battling the group, which has links to Al-Qaeda, in an African Union peacekeeping force mandated with wiping out the rebels from their strongholds.

"So far there has been minimal resistance," Oguna told Reuters, adding that the troops had entered Kismayu early on Friday.

In Kismayu, residents said they could hear fighting near the beach, which is about 4 km outside the city.

"Now we hear shelling from the ships and the (rebels) are responding with anti-aircraft guns," Ismail Suglow told Reuters on Friday.

"We saw seven ships early in the morning and now their firing looks like lightning and thunder. Al Shabaab have gone towards the beach. Many residents have taken their guns. The ships poured many AU troops on the beach," he added.

Al Shabaab, which was driven out of the capital Mogadishu last August and is fighting African Union forces in other parts of the country, said there was heavy fighting going on between the two sides.

"Ships have brought Kenyan troops on our Kismayu beach last night. Fierce fighting between us and them is going on now," Sheikh Abdiasis Abu Musab, al Shabaab's spokesman for military operations, told Reuters on Friday.

Kenya sent its troops into Somalia last October after the rebels were blamed for a series of raids on Kenyan soil targeting its security forces as well as Western tourists.

Somalia has made progress in the past year in battling the Islamist militants, who have wanted to impose their strict interpretation of Sharia law across the country since taking control of large swathes of south-central Somalia from 2007.

Top 5 Techniques of Traffic Creation Exposed. | Search Engine ...

Traffic building naturally is the essence of any Web marketing campaign. Without traffic creation, irrespective of what the signup rate on your sales pages or the sign up rate on your selling page or your capture page, you simply do not have a firm without traffic. I don't believe you can simply depend on one strategy of traffic creation irrespective of how good that system of traffic building is.

One of the worst things to occur is when you rely on one source of traffic, and that source of traffic falls apart.

Article promoting is my number one methodology of traffic creation. This specific tool can help an individual effectively create content for their web site and internet pages that may attain their target audience. This specific tool links a domain to a favored networking site thru a collection of back links. Employing an internet site traffic generator can be of significant benefit to an internet site business. E-zine advertising is my number 3 methodology of traffic creation.

Putin condemns bloody regime change in Middle East

MOSCOW (AP) ? Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a strong warning Wednesday against inciting violent regime change in the Middle East ? an apparent rebuke to Western calls for an end to Syrian President Bashar Assad's rule.

Putin said the international community should operate as a united front to soothe the tensions in the Mideast and claimed that a bloody regime change would only fuel further unrest.

"Violence only begets violence," Putin said in a speech to foreign diplomats in Moscow.

The statement appeared to again pit Putin against President Barack Obama, who used his speech at the U.N. General Assembly this week to call for an end to the Assad regime over its violent crackdown on an uprising that began in March 2011.

Speaking about the rising violence in Syria, Obama said Tuesday that "the future must not belong to a dictator who massacres his people."

"Together, we must stand with those Syrians who believe in a different vision," Obama said.

As frustration deepens at the ongoing failure of U.N.-led measures to reach a solution on Syria, officials from a coalition including the United States, the European Union and the Arab League met in the Netherlands last week to devise new ways of isolating the Assad regime.

But Putin said Wednesday that attempts to circumvent U.N.-led diplomatic efforts would prove destructive.

"Such action is fraught with potential for destabilization and chaos," Putin said. "Life has recently given us proof that this is correct. It is time for us to draw lessons from what is happening."

Activists estimate that at least 30,000 people have been killed since the Syrian revolt began and hundreds of thousands have been displaced, many fleeing to neighboring countries such as Turkey and Jordan.

In his speech, Putin also called for joint international efforts to counter terrorist threats across a number of Middle East nations, including Libya, Iraq, Yemen, Syria, Egypt, and Afghanistan.

"There can be no room for double standards. Terrorists should be given a hard and unanimous rebuff," he said.

Crowdfunding Investment: What the JOBS Act Means for ...

Boost a Hero - Crowdfunding

Boost a Hero by Sprigster is one example of a new platform that has sprung up to help business owners raise capital through crowdfunding.

by Mark Mohler, CEO of Sprigster

Crowdfunding is the process whereby large numbers of individuals pool their resources behind a common cause or project, usually using the internet, to support efforts initiated by other people or organizations.? As of now, allowing those backers to own an interest in the project to be funded has been illegal under longstanding U.S. securities laws.? On April 5 of this year, the JOBS Act was passed to eventually make crowdfunding investment legal.? This change in the law is widely hoped to be the key in providing small business with the investment capital that has been so absent since the recession began.? In the future, franchisees will generally have the ability to solicit investment in their franchise business from friends, neighbors and total strangers alike using the internet.? However, it is not legal quite yet because the SEC is still writing the rules under which these investments can be made.

There are two separate sections in the JOBS Act that will enable crowdfunding investments and the timing of their implementation will likely be different.? What is likely to happen first will be the legalization of solicitations for private investment made through broad-based advertising.? Historically, this type of ?general solicitation? has been strictly banned for private offerings that do not comply with very costly registration requirements.? However, the JOBS Act lifts that ban in a way that will enable most companies to solicit private investment over the internet (or TV, radio or most any other method for that matter).? However, similar to current rules, the investment can only be sold to accredited investors who meet certain requirements for high income, net worth, and other requirements.? Think of it like this: you can only take investments from the same type of investors for private offerings that you could before?however, you can use modern day technologies like the internet to advertise and find those qualified investors.? These rules will likely be available somewhere around the end of the year.

The second change relates specifically to crowdfunding investment.? The JOBS Act will permit everyday Americans, regardless of net worth or investment sophistication, to invest in companies through crowdfunding.? This will allow businesses, including franchise businesses, to raise up to $1 million per year in each business.? Everyday Americans can then invest $2,000 or more in these investments each year (depending on income and net worth).? The specific rules for this new capital raising tool have not yet been written and probably will not be available until some time next year.? However, these new rules will dramatically update securities laws that were written in the 1930?s.? This should be very enabling for franchisees and franchisors alike.

The real reason Romney is losing

Some say Romney is simply a bad candidate, but Reich argues that Romney's struggles can be tied to a growing public's distaste with the GOP.

By Robert Reich,?Guest blogger / September 25, 2012

Republican presidential candidate and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney speaks at the Clinton Global Initiative in New York Tuesday. Reich argues that Romney is behind in polls due to Americans' distaste with extreme right-wing beliefs in the Republican party.

I?ve spent the past few days debating right-wingers ? among them, Grover Norquist and Ann Coulter. This isn?t my idea of fun. I do it because apparently many Americans find these people persuasive, and it seems important to try to show why they?re profoundly wrong.?

There are two major theories about why Romney is dropping in the polls. One is Romney is a lousy candidate, unable to connect with people or make his case.

The second is that Americans are finally beginning to see how radical the GOP has become, and are repudiating it.?

Many Republicans ? including some of the right-wingers I?ve been debating ? hold to the first view, for obvious reasons. If Romney fails to make a comeback this week, I expect even more?complaints from this crowd about Romney?s personal failings, as well as the inadequacies of his campaign staff.?

But the second explanation strikes me as more compelling. The Republican primaries, and then the Republican convention, have shown America a party far removed from the ?compassionate conservatism? the GOP tried to sell in 2000. Instead, we have a party that?s been taken over by Tea Partiers, nativists, social Darwinists, homophobes, right-wing evangelicals, and a few rich people whose only interest is to become even wealthier.?

These regressives were there in 2000, to be sure. They lurked in the GOP in the 1990s, when Newt Gingrich took over the House. They were there in the 1980s, too, although Ronald Reagan?s sunny disposition gave them cover. In truth, they?ve been part of the GOP for more than half a century ? but never before have they held so much sway in the party, never before have they called the shots.

The second view about Romney?s decline also explains the ?negative coat-tail? effect ? why so many Republicans around the country in Senate and House races are falling behind. Scott Brown, for example, is well-liked in Massachusetts. But his polls have been dropping in recent weeks because he?s had to carry the burden of the public?s increasing dislike of the Republican Party. The same is true with regard to Republican senate races in Florida, Virginia, and every other battleground state.?

Romney?s failing isn?t that he?s a bad candidate. To the contrary, he?s giving this GOP exactly what it wants in a candidate. And that?s exactly the problem for Romney ? as it is for every other Republican candidate ? because what the GOP wants is not at all what the rest of America wants.?

Picking Ryan has done little to win voters for Romney

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Mitt Romney's selection of Paul Ryan as his running mate has done little to attract voters to the Republican ticket and more think he is not qualified to be president than believe he is ready for the White House, a Reuters/Ipsos poll said on Monday.

Fewer than a third of registered voters, 29 percent, said the selection of Ryan made them feel more favorable toward Romney. But with 27 percent in the online poll saying it made them feel less favorable, Ryan's place on the ticket may have little effect on the November 6 election.

The results were largely split along party lines - with 46 percent of Democrats saying Ryan's choice made them less favorable, compared with 8 percent who said the opposite. And 56 percent of Republicans felt more favorable, versus 6 percent.

But Ryan has not swayed many political independents, the voters expected to play a decisive role in the election. Eighteen percent felt more favorable and 13 percent less so.

"Overall, he doesn't really appear to be impacting the top of the ticket much," Ipsos pollster Julia Clark said. "He's still a bit of an unknown entity."

The survey was conducted September 20-24, a time when some Republican commentators have been pressing Romney's campaign to do more to promote Ryan, who is seen as a proponent of big fiscal ideas, like a plan to overhaul the government Medicare health insurance program for retirees.

The Washington Post reported on Monday that some conservatives think Romney's campaign has been too cautious by avoiding Ryan's big ideas and hoping that President Barack Obama will defeat himself.

Polls have given Obama a steady nationwide lead over Romney since the Democratic convention early this month. The Reuters/Ipsos tracking poll on Monday had Obama leading by 49 percent to 43 percent for Romney among likely voters.

"Obama's now been healthfully in the lead since the convention. If he can sustain this for another 45 days, it's done," Clark said.

BIDEN BENEFITS FROM INCUMBENCY

Forty-four percent of registered voters think Ryan is not qualified to be president, compared with 29 percent who feel he would be ready to step into Romney's shoes if necessary, the survey found.

A larger percentage thought that Joe Biden, 69, the incumbent Democratic vice president, is ready for the Oval Office. Biden led 43 percent to 36 percent, thanks to huge support among Democrats.

But more Democrats had faith in Biden, a former Delaware senator who is well-known as the incumbent, than Republicans had in the 42-year-old Ryan, a Wisconsin congressman who is chairman of the House of Representatives Budget Committee.

Among Democrats, 74 percent said Biden was more qualified, versus 8 percent who chose Ryan and 18 percent who did not know. Seventy percent of Republicans favored Ryan, compared with 13 percent for Biden and 18 percent who did not know.

The numbers were even among independents, with 30 percent each for Biden and Ryan, and 40 percent who did not know.

More registered voters have heard of Ryan than before Romney selected him, but he still falls short in national name recognition. Only 56 percent of registered voters said they were familiar with Ryan, versus mid-August's 35 percent.

Their opinions of him are split evenly. Forty-nine percent view Ryan favorably, versus 51 percent who don't, divided largely along party lines. Among independents, 48 percent view him favorably and 52 percent don't, the poll showed.

The precision of the Reuters/Ipsos online polls is measured using a credibility interval. In this case, the poll has a credibility interval of 3.1 percentage points for the 1,313 registered voters surveyed and 3.5 percentage points for the 1,095 likely voters.

No. 8 West Virginia outlasts Maryland 31-21

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) ? West Virginia's Tavon Austin just can't get enough of Maryland.

Austin caught three touchdown passes in another remarkable game against his home-state Terrapins and No. 8 West Virginia outlasted Maryland 31-21 on Saturday.

A Baltimore native, Austin accounted for half of West Virginia's offense, catching 13 passes for 179 yards and setting a school record for career receptions.

"It was my last time playing Maryland," said Austin, a senior. "So there was a little bit on the line for me."

It's a good thing for the Mountaineers he felt that way.

Despite scoring two early touchdowns, West Virginia (3-0) looked flat at times, after averaging 56 points and 612 yards in its first two games against non-BCS conference opponents.

The Mountaineers punted on four of their first five possessions of the second half but wouldn't let Maryland (2-2) cut into a double-digit lead in beating the Terrapins for the seventh straight time.

"We didn't play our best offensively," said West Virginia coach Dana Holgorsen. "But it was enough."

Leading rusher Shawne Alston was limited by a thigh bruise and didn't get a carry. West Virginia was held to 25 yards on the ground.

Geno Smith often threw into tough coverage and had as many incompletions in the first half (nine) as he did in the first two games combined. He spent a lot of time getting knocked on his backside and finished 30 of 43 for 338 yards.

"I wasn't as sharp as I wanted to be," Smith said. "That's a credit to Maryland. They did a great job of mixing things up and giving us different looks."

Smith found a groove just before halftime, throwing for 64 yards on a drive capped by a 24-yard pass to Austin alone in the end zone for a 24-14 lead.

Maryland freshman Perry Hills threw for 305 yards and three touchdowns, two to freshman Stefon Diggs.

Hills had some success moving the Maryland offense with misdirection plays and screen passes. Maryland had more yards at halftime (212) than it did all of last week in a home loss to Connecticut.

But Hills was sacked five times and had little luck in the second half. With Maryland facing fourth-and-21 from its 32 with four minutes left in the game, Hills was intercepted by Wes Tonkery at the West Virginia 28 and the Mountaineers ran out the clock.

"I'm disappointed that we made some of the errors that we made that didn't allow us to have an opportunity to win toward the end of the game," said Maryland coach Randy Edsall. "I thought our defense played pretty well. Definitely thought we played well versus the run."

The game was billed as a matchup of all-purpose talent, and Austin and Diggs didn't disappoint.

Austin now has 208 career receptions, breaking the mark of 206 set by Jock Sanders from 2007-10. In three games against Maryland, he had 31 catches for 407 yards.

"This was Tavon's best game," Holgorsen said. "He played fast. His energy on the sidelines was tremendous. He was the one guy offensively who played his best game. I can't say that about the rest of them."

Diggs had a 42-yard scoring catch in the first quarter and a 56-yarder midway through the fourth. He caught three passes for 113 yards and had 63 yards on kick returns and 25 yards on punt returns.

"I went to him at the end of the game and told him that he was a good player ? but I couldn't let a young guy outshine me," Austin said.

On Maryland's second series of the game, West Virginia safety Darwin Cook slipped through the middle of the line unblocked and knocked the ball from Hills. Linebacker Doug Rigg scooped up the loose ball and went 51 yards for West Virginia's second defensive touchdown of the season.

It was a role reversal of the key play of January's Orange Bowl, when Rigg forced a fumble that Cook returned for a TD ? and famously knocked over the Orange Bowl mascot ? in a rout of Clemson.

Late in the first quarter, Austin caught a pass up the middle, bounced off a defender and went 44 yards up the right sideline to put the Mountaineers ahead 14-0. Austin capped West Virginia's scoring with a 34-yard reception midway through the fourth.

Introduction
The Sacred Dragons is a gang from South Korea that encroached on the Deadly Tiger's, a gang in China, territory. The two gangs have over a century of history. They've fought each other, made peace treaties, and even teamed up to take down common threats. At this time things aren't going so well. Both gangs are on the brink of war with each other over an unexpected incident. They've been at peace with each other for the past ten years, but someone attacked the Dragon's leader, leaving him severely injured and some of his best men dead. All of the evidence pointed to the Tigers as the culprits and so they're on the verge of fighting one another again. Amidst the growing chaos, unexpected relationships spring up. If any of the superiors find out, there would be deadly consequences.

Michael Bisping kicks ?disrespectful? fan out of UFC 152 workouts

Michael Bisping has a fight with Brian Stann at UFC 152 on Saturday night, but before that, he found a fight with a fan who disrupted his workout on Wednesday. He explained why he threw the fan out of the open workouts to MMA Fighting. (The explanation is at the beginning of the video.)

"I was just trying to do my pads and stuff, and the guy's got no respect. He annoyed my boxing coach more than anything. My boxing coach got a little upset. I could see it in his eyes," Bisping said.

"I was trying to get a workout in, and he's just disrupting the whole thing. He's upsetting my boxing coach, and so I'm like, you gotta go. You gotta go. If you can't have respect ... we're here. We're putting on a display for you guys. If you can't respect it, you have to go outside with the naughty children."

During big fight weeks like this one, the UFC will often offer three free events to fans: open workouts, the press conference and weigh-ins. Open workouts are undoubtedly the best option, because it lets fans get close to fighters to take pictures and see how they train.

The fans and media being there make the workouts more casual than a normal pre-fight training session, but it's still a workout. Fighters are cutting weight and thinking about their bout and should get to do that without being heckled. Even someone like Bisping, who loves to jaw with anyone and everyone, deserves to work out without distraction.

Romney tries to seize mantle of change

WASHINGTON (AP) ? Now it's Mitt Romney who wants to be the candidate of change.

Romney seized on President Barack Obama's comment that "you can't change Washington from the inside." Grasping for a way to right his campaign and appeal to independents, the Republican nominee said he has what it takes to end the nasty partisanship in the nation's capital.

"I can change Washington," Romney said Thursday. "I will change Washington. We'll get the job done from the inside. Republicans and Democrats will come together."

Romney was expected to press the issue again Friday during a campaign rally in Nevada, a state hard hit by the nation's housing and unemployment woes.

Obama, traveling Friday to Virginia and addressing an AARP convention by satellite, planned to keep hammering Romney for comments he made in a private fundraiser about 47 percent of the country believing they are victims and entitled to a government handouts.

Obama, who ran for president in 2008 on a pledge to fix Washington's combative tone, said in an interview that he had come to the conclusion "you can't change Washington from the inside. You can only change it from the outside." Adding that he wanted people to speak out on issues, he went on to say: "So something that I'd really like to concentrate on in my second term is being in a much more constant conversation with the American people so that they can put pressure on Congress to help move some of these issues forward."

After Romney focused on the "can't change Washington from the inside" segment of Obama's remarks, the president's campaign countered quickly by noting that Romney said exactly that in 2007, when he was running for the 2008 Republican nomination: "I don't think you change Washington from the inside. I think you change it from the outside."

Obama adviser David Axelrod defended the president's comments on NBC's "Today." ''He said in order to move Washington and to move the Congress, you have to enlist the American people," Axelrod said.

"That was the lesson he learned from the standoff on the debt ceiling last summer, and he's been making that point consistently," Axelrod said. "The fact that Gov. Romney picked up on it and attacked him on it is just one more example of how he's just cascading from one gratuitous attack to another, instead of talking about solutions to the problems we face."

Obama's campaign also released a web video Friday morning targeting older voters, many of whom would fall into the group of Americans Romney referenced when he said that nearly half of Americans don't pay income tax but get benefits. Senior citizens receiving Medicare make up about 15 percent of those getting federal benefits; about 22 percent of those not paying income tax are seniors who get tax breaks that offset their income.

The Obama video features voters commenting on Romney's assertions, including one man who says "It offends me."

Polling shows Obama with a slight lead nationally, as well as in many of the eight or so battleground states that will decide the election. That includes Virginia, where Democrats with access to internal polling say Obama is up 3 or 4 percentage points over Romney in Virginia, a slimmer margin than in some recent public polling.

Obama has also pulled ahead of Romney in cash on hand, a key measure of a campaign's financial strength. The Democrat has more than $88 million to spend in the campaign's final weeks, while Romney has just over $50 million at his disposal.

Romney's campaign is seeking to regroup after a rough stretch that included the emergence of a video in which he tells wealthy donors at a private fundraiser that 47 percent of Americans pay no income tax and that they believe they are victims and entitled to an array of federal benefits. Obama has cast those remarks as a sign that Romney is out of touch with most Americans.

"When you express an attitude that half the country considers itself victims, that somehow they want to be dependent on government, my thinking is maybe you haven't gotten around a lot," Obama said Thursday during a forum on Univision, the Spanish-language TV network.

Romney is also facing criticism from some in his own party that he's spending too much time raising money and not enough time talking to voters in the eight or so battleground states that will decide the election. In response, his campaign added a Sunday rally in Colorado to his schedule and announced a three-day Ohio bus tour that kicks off Monday.

At the same time, his wife, Ann, said GOP critics should lay off. "Stop it. This is hard. You want to try it? Get in the ring," she said Thursday evening in an interview with Radio Iowa.

"This is hard, and you know, it's an important thing that we're doing right now, and it's an important election," she said. "And it is time for all Americans to realize how significant this election is and how lucky we are to have someone with Mitt's qualifications and experience and know-how to be able to have the opportunity to run this country."

The president will campaign this weekend in Wisconsin, a state Romney is trying to put in play. Republicans are hoping the addition of Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan to the GOP ticket will help them claim victory there ? or at least force Obama to spend time and money to hold the state.

Even with Election Day under seven weeks away, voters across the country are already casting ballots. By week's end, early voting will be under way in two dozen states.

Obama was also making a play for older voters Friday by speaking via satellite to an AARP convention and taking questions from the group's members. The president's campaign is seeking to gain an advantage with seniors and voters nearing retirement by attacking the Republican ticket's plan for Medicare.

The popular federal entitlement for seniors was the focus of a new television ad from the Obama campaign. The ad, scheduled to air Friday in Colorado, Florida and Iowa, presents a Democratic refrain ? that Romney and Ryan would turn Medicare into a voucher program that could raise seniors' health costs by up to $6,400 a year.

Independent groups have said that a House Republican budget proposal led by Ryan could lead to higher costs for older Americans. But exactly how much is far from clear. The ad relies on the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, a liberal-leaning think tank, for the figure it cites.

Supporters of the Ryan plan say competition among private insurance providers could wring waste out of the system and bring down costs.

Sony 'PrototypeSR' spotted at TGS the HMZT2 tacks on a camera for enhanced 3D measures

Remember the Sony HMZ-T2 3D head-mounted display that we tried on back at IFA? Well, it's being prominently featured here at TGS, too. Tucked away at a smaller, much more modest booth around the corner, however, is something a smidge more interesting. Kept behind glass and a safe distance away from our grubby mitts and sweaty foreheads resides the "Prototype-SR" (Substitutional Reality) that was outed on YouTube last week. Essentially, the unit appears to be the HMZ-T2 with a front-mounted camera for head tracking and camera functionality -- the sort of thing that will provide what's being called a 360-degree immersive entertainment experience. From what we can tell from the booth monitors, the unit displays 3D video overlaid in real space for the person wearing the device. Details are scarce and extremely limited demos were available in an apparent lottery (no luck here). You can rest assured that if we're able to snag one, though, we'll be sure to offer up some impressions. For now, take a look at the camera-wielding set of hi-tech goggles in the gallery below and the aforementioned video awaits just past the break.

American Airlines sends thousands of layoff notices

Mary Altaffer / AP

American Airlines has told over 11,000 workers they could lose their jobs as part of its reorganization.

By Roland Jones, NBC News

American Airlines has told over 11,000 workers they could lose their jobs as part of its reorganization in bankruptcy.

However, the U.S. airline, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection?in November, said it expects that fewer than 40 percent of those it sent notices to, or 4,400 people, will actually be laid off in November and December.

The job cut notifications come as a result of the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act, which requires workers to be told about major layoffs or plant closures 60 days in advance.

Jamie Horwitz, a spokesman for the Transport Workers Union, a representative for workers that received WARN Act notices said the layoff notices ?will look worse than the actual layoffs.?

Horwitz said about 800 employees had agreed to leave American voluntarily, a move that will further reduce the number of expected layoffs. American said in February it planned to cut up to 14,000 jobs as part of a plan to slim down its operations in bankruptcy.

American also said it is cutting flights by one to two percent for the rest of September and October.
The cuts are partly due to an increase in pilot sick days and greater maintenance reports by flight crews led to flight cancellations and delays, Hicks said. American operates about 1,700 flights a day.

Related: Flight cancellations surge at American Airlines

According to flight tracking service FlightAware.com, over the past two weeks American Airlines has canceled more flights than any other major U.S. airline.

Reuters contributed to this report.
